Full Lot Description
An early Victorian silver 'castle top' vinaigrette, of rectangular form with raised edge, the hinged lid decorated in relief with a scene of York Minster, with engraved foliate scrolls to the base enclosing a monogrammed cartouche, and opening to a silver-gilt interior with ornate floral pierced grille. Hallmarked Birmingham 1843 with maker's mark J.T and attributed to John Tongue. Length 4.5cm, gross weight 35.8 grams.

<li>Appears in good overall condition, displaying some general light surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing.
<li>Some surface wear and rubbing to areas of the relief decoration causing slight loss of detail to certain areas, but overall impression good and bright.
<li>Hinges appear in good working order and closes flush and securely.
<li>A couple of slight breaks to the pierced grille.
<li>Hallmarks located to interior base and reverse of lid, these a little rubbed but clearly legible.
<li>Grille appears unmarked.
