Full Lot Description
A good Chinese export silver tea set, comprising a teapot with upright swing handle, a cream jug and a twin-handled sugar bowl with a pair of tongs, each of bulbous shape to a collet foot, and decorated to the whole with continuous village scenes with trees, buildings and animals and depicting various figures in traditional dress at different pursuits, all with 'bamboo' modelled handles, the teapot also with conforming 'bamboo' spout and final to the hinged lid, with small engraved presentation panel to the teapot and monogrammed panels to the sugar and cream. Each marked to base with maker's mark for Wing Nam & Co (Hong Kong, circa 1880-1910), tongs not marked. Maximum height of teapot with handle upright 8" (20.2cm), gross weight 31.39 ozt (976.2 grams).

Condition Report
<li>Presentation inscription reads, 'Presented to E. J. Treadgald? as a token of respect. From the European staff H.M Dockyard Hong Kong 21/7/1913'
<li>All pieces appear in good overall condition, displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
<li>Some minor surface dints and bumps.
<li>Some seam lines slightly visible.
<li>Some slight surface wear and rubbing to areas of the decoration but overall appears in good condition and retaining much detail.
<li>Sugar bowl with a possible solder repair at the join of the top of the handle to the rim.
<li>Hinged handle and lid of teapot both appear in good working order. Lid closes flush.
<li>Interior of teapot with some sugar? residues.
<li>Maker's marks with some surface rubbing around edges but still clearly legible.
<li>Tongs not marked but when tested results show around 88-90% Ag.
