Lot Description
An early 20th century 15ct gold and platinum, pearl and old-cut diamond bar brooch.
Estimated total diamond weight 0.30ct, I-J colour, P1-P2 clarity.
Diameter of pearls 5.6 to 4.7mms.
Length 6.5cms. 3.8gms.
Pearls untested for natural origin.

<li>Clasp functions but securing mechanism is broken.
<li>Diamonds appear well matched.
<li>Colour and clarity assessment of diamonds undertaken within limitations of individual size and setting of diamonds.<p>
<li>Pearls appear semi-baroque, one more so than the other two, with a cream body colour with green and pink overtones. One pearl with two small cracks towards mount. Another with circular marking.
<li>The front of the brooch electronically tests platinum, the verso 15ct gold, the pin 9ct. The pin a possible later replacement.<p>
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
