Full Lot Description
A pair of late Victorian silver mounted candlesticks, each having filled, square stepped base with embossed borders, rising to a twisted stem and foliage engraved capital with detachable, circular nozzles with gadrooned rim, hallmarked Walter Adams Philips, Sheffield 1898. Together with a set of five teaspoons with shaped terminals, hallmarked John Sanderson & Son Ltd, Sheffield 1921, three teaspoons, a pastry fork and small four pronged forks with pierced, foliage and rose terminals, stamped 800, a butter knife with foliate scroll engraved blade, hallmarked William Briggs & Co, Sheffield 1903 and a souvenir spoon with pierced yacht terminal stamped 800, plus a small selection of plated items, including a pair of sugar tongs, a teaspoon, a condiment bowl and fish ornament. <li>Items all showing surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing to various degrees.
<li>Candlesticks all show considerable holes to corner edges of each base.
<li>Edges to candlestick bases show creases, bashes and some minor losses, and appear quite worn and damaged. Material to filled bases is also very worn.
<li>Borders to base show polish residue through out.
<li>Interior to capitals display wax residue through out.
<li>Nozzles are very darkly tarnished, with a considerable bash to one.
<li>Vertical seam lines are visible to each stem.
<li>Stem shows very dark patchy tarnishing.
<li>Hallmarks are clear and legible through out.
<li>Set of five tea spoons all show moderate tarnishing through out bowls.
<li>Examples with rose terminals also show dark tarnishing to recesses of decoration.
