A mid 19th century gold pink topaz, ruby and chrysoberyl scrolling foliate brooch, with glazed hair locket reverse.

<li>Hinged loop to reverse.
<li>Hooks to support a swag or chain, one hook is deficient, tear and associated loss to reverse. Clasp is slightly sunken in the mount.
<li>Gems are in closed settings, presumed foil back.
<li>Topaz appears a light medium pink hue.
<li>Rubies appear a well matched, deep medium pinky red.
<li>Chrysoberyl are a pale yellowy green.
<li>Gems general with minimal abrasions, larger chrysoberyl with significant abrasions.
<li>Electronically tests as approximately 20ct gold, presumed interference from gilt finish.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
