A mid 19th century gold opal, emerald and ruby bow brooch, suspending a similarly-set heart locket.

<li>Scratches, small marks and scratch marks to the reverse.
<li>Varied discolouration. Later safety chain.
<li>Opals are generally moderately opaque, poor play of colour. Opals show glue to some mounts. Small chips, nicks and few cracks.
<li>Emeralds appear a light slightly bluish gren and vibrant medium slightly greenish blue. Varied tone and saturation.
<li>Rubies appear a well matched pinky red.
<li>Electronically tests as approximately 20ct gold, probable interference from gilt finish.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
