Full Lot Description
A late Victorian silver presentation key, the acanthus framed finial with crown surmount and engraved below, 'Presented to Counr. W. Roberts on the occasion of the opening of The extension of the Victoria Park Handsworth March 30th 1898', hallmarked James Fenton, Birmingham 1897, length 13.5cm, in fitted case. Together with a mid-20th century silver-gilt example, presented to the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, hallmarked Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd., London 1952, length 14.5cm, in original fitted case. Weight 4.13ozt (128.3g). (2).

Condition Report
- Engraving on the later key reads 'Presented to The Right Worshipful The Lord Mayor of Birmingham (Alderman W.T. Bowen J.P) On the occasion of the handing over of the first block of six-storey 'No-Fines' flats at Marston Green 5th May 1953.
- Both keys appear in good overall condition.
- Both displaying some general light surface wear, marks, scratches and nicks.
- Some light tarnishing and residues of dried or blackened polish.
- Hallmarks clear and legible; maker's mark on later key is rubbed but still legible.
- Some general expected surface wear to both cases; with some minor tears/threadbare patches to material linings.
- The material lining of the case for the 1950's key also shows some fading and discolouration; this case also includes a base metal key.
