Full Lot Description

A George V silver vesta case, with foliage scrolling enclosing central vacant shield, with hallmarked chain attachment, hallmarked William Henry Sparrow, Birmingham 1912; plus a late Victorian silver sovereign case, of typical form with circular, central panel, hallmarked Alfred Wigley, Birmingham 1898, and a similar, later example, stamped 925, each with ring attachment. Overall weight 2.5ozt (80g).

  • Items show general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.
  • Silver to vesta case is quite dark.
  • Hinged lid is in good working order.
  • Push lock to Victorian example appears damaged, but movement is in good working order.
  • Some deeper scratches and small nicks are visible to Victorian example.
  • Later example is very bashed and compressed to back.
  • Hinged lid wobbles slightly and shows small gape even when locked by functioning push lock.
  • Spring mechanism to both sovereign holders appears in good condition.
