Full Lot Description
Fred Yates (1922-2008) - an impasto oil on canvas French landscape, believed to be Laprade and the river Couze, with trees by the waters edge, signed lower left, unframed, 70cm x 50cm
This was painted in the early 2000s when Yates was living in Rancon, in the Haute Vienne in France. Yates had a problem with the roof of his house, and a local man helped repair it. He wouldn't take any money, but asked if Yates would painted the view from his house (this painting). The painting was given in lieu of the repair. The current vendor purchased said man's house and the painting.
