Full Lot Description

A 19th century French mystery clock in the manner of Guilmet, the spelter figure of a classical maiden holding a brass pendulum mounted on a later black wooden plinth with lion mask handles and lion paw feet enclosing a brass drum movement with gilt Roman numerals and skeletonised centre with a glass outer and glass dial, unmarked, total height 63cm

Postage: Not Postable

Weight: 6540

Total lot weight: 6.5

  • The plinth is a replacement, as is the dial glass. The fittings are likely original and are likely from the original marble plinth
  • The mechanism is believed to be original
  • The plinth measures 26.5cm x 21.5cm x 22.5cm, the case with the brass plate measures 29cm, figure 35.5cm tall
  • The case has scuffs and knocks.
  • The figure has flaking and scuffs
  • Pendulum believed to be original
  • Please note that the internal mechanisms and parts contained within this item are not inspected and therefore not known if complete, damaged or inoperable
  • This clock has come from a restorer and so it should be considered that they may have elements of restoration to either the case or movement, that have not been detected and so viewing is strongly recommended
  • Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
