Lot Description

A late 19th century 18ct gold graduated old-cut diamond hinged bangle.

Estimated total diamond weight 7.15cts, G-L colour, SI1-P2 clarity.
Inner diameter 5.5cms. 10.9gms.

Surface scratches and small marks.
Discolouration where bangle joins diamond mounts, possible replacement.
Slight discolouration at safety chain, possible later addition.
Diamonds appear fairly bright and well matched.
Principal three diamonds estimated:
1.10cts, K-L colour, P1 clarity.
1.35cts, I-J colour, P1-P2 clarity, chipped at a claw.
1.45cts, J-K colour, P1-P2 clarity.
Width 0.8cm.
Stamped 18ct to afixed panel.
Electronically tests to mount as approximately 14-15ct gold and to back of the bangle as approximately 12ct gold.
Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
