Full Lot Description
An early Victorian silver 'castle top' vinaigrette, of scroll edge rectangular form, the hinged lid decorated in relief with a scene of Abbotsford House, with engraved foliate scrolls to the base and opening to a silver-gilt interior with a similarly pierced foliate grille. Hallmarked Edward Smith, Birmingham 1845. Length 4cm, gross weight 29.2 grams.

<li>Appears in good overall condition, displaying some general light surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing.
<li>Some surface wear and rubbing to areas of the relief decoration and also to the textured ground, causing slight loss of detail to certain areas, but overall impression still good.
<li>Hinged lid appears in good working order and closes securely. Almost flush when closed but rising very slightly.
<li>A coupe of slight breaks to piercing of grille and also some fading to the gilding.
<li>Hallmarks located to the interior base and reverse of lid, these a little rubbed but still clearly legible. Reverse of grille struck with monarch head only.
