Lot Description

A Victorian silver mug of classic form with floral scroll embossed surround to the vacant cartouche and leaf capped scrolling handle, hallmarked Barnard & Sons Ltd London 1876. Together with a further Victorian mug of similar form and bright cut engraving, hallmarked London Edward Charles Brown 1876 and a further early twentieth century silver tankard. Gross weight 32.2ozt (1003 grams).

The floral mug has few scratches to the exterior. The interior has some light scratches and smaller deeper scratches. Some of the finer engraved detail has worn slightly. There is some tarnishing towards the bottom of the mug. The hallmark is in good condition and can be found on the base of the piece.  It is a little unsteady.

The engraved mug has some general scratches. There is a deeper scratch situated at the bottom of the mug near the handle. The cartouche is engraved with an fern design of the letter S. The fine detail is intact. There are some faint scratches on the gilded interior and one or two very small dints. There are some small pit marks on the handle. The hallmark is in good condition and can be found on the base. It sits flush and is steady.

The tankard has some general scratches as well as some dints which are visible on the gilded interior and exterior of the piece. There is some light pitting around the bottom and inside. There are some small chinks in the rim, particularly near the handle. The hallmark is clear and can be found at the top right, near the handle. There is a little tarnishing inside.  It sits flush and is steady.
