Lot Description

A 1930’s silver cigarette case with engine turned decoration, canted corners and centrally applied enamelled Naval crown, together with a matching hexagonal compact. Hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd Birmingham 1939. Gross combined weight 4.2 ozt (133 grams). (2).

The cigarette case and compact displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The interiors have been gilded, in particular the interior of the cigarette case is discoloured. There is a personal name and date engraving to the interior of the cigarette case, the definition to the detail of the cigarette cases has rubbed. The bezel insert to the compact is loose. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
