Lot 629

Lot Description

An early 19th century mahogany-cased triple-fusee chiming bracket clock by Blundell of Clerkenwell, circa 1830. Having an 8" arched white Roman dial with brass moon hands, inscribed "BLUNDELL Clerkenwell LONDON 2859", beneath Strike/Silent ring, the chain-driven triple-fusee movement  chiming on a carillon of eight bells and striking on a ninth, the backplate engraved "Blundell Clerkenwell London 2839", the architectural case with triangular pediment over arch-glazed door between canted corners on ogee frieze and plain plinth, 20.5", (52cm) high.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Dial is numbered 2859 but movement is numbered 2839 - which suggests dial has been overpainted. Dial would probably look better stripped and brass or silvered. Movement sound. Case is generally good with only slight damage over door.
