Lot Description

A Dutch silver snuff box of oblong form with reeded edge, shaped rim and engraved with a primitive pastoral scene. Hallmarked with the Lion passant, Minerva head and AD83. Length measuring 7.7 cm, weight 45 grams.

The snuff box appears in poor condition with general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. There are numerous dints,along with a split along a line of the engrave decoration. The base has engine turned decoration which has significantly rubbed. The two halves of the case do not sit flush, rising to one side. The hallmarks to the inside are partly rubbed but legible.
