Lot Description

A George II silver sparrow beak cream jug, of baluster form, raised on a circular foot, foliate capped scrolling handle and narrow spout. Hallmarked William Coles, London 1742. Height 2 7/8 inches (7.4 cm), weight 1.71 ozt (53.3 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Small dents to the widest point of the jug body and to a section of the foot ring. Engraved 'M' to underside of foot. Hallmarks slightly worn but legible. Previous signs of chasing visible to the interior and subsequently removed.
