A pair of George III silver shoe buckles, the oval openwork form quartered with facetted beading and raised on a steel fixtures. Hallmarked with the maker's mark for George Smith (II) & Thomas Hayter, presumed London 1795. Length measuring 2 1/2 inches (6.5 cm).

The lot displays general scratches, marks wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Much heavier areas of tarnishing. The steel has degraded. Hallmarks are clear and legible, no town mark present.
