Lot Description
A late George III silver double sided tea caddy, the oval body partly fluted, standing on four winged shell paw feet and rising to the gadrooned rim with twin initialled hinged covers (missing keys) and cast floral handle. Hallmarked Solomon Royes & John East Dix, London 1818. Maximum height including handle 7 3/4 inches (20 cm), weight 26.4 ozt (824 grams).

Condition Report
The caddy displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A solder repair is visible to the underside of the gadrooned rim at the join of the handle. Three of the feet have been repaired with reinforcement panels, the fourth has small splits on the central shell. The caddy wobbles. Minor dints and dents present. Locks are present to both covers, but no keys. Initial engravings to the covers are a later addition. Flush hinges are in good condition - small solder repair (approx. 1 cm) to a seam area around the hinge. Main hallmarks to the body are quite worn, part hallmarks also present to the covers.
