Lot 39

Lot Description

A set of four late Victorian silver open salts, each of circular pedestal form with shaped rim above a plain girdle and decorated with floral and foliate motifs surrounding a vacant cartouche, with blue glass liners, hallmarked Josiah Williams & Co (George Maudsley Jackson & David Landsborough Fullerton), London 1897. Together with a pair of 1920's silver salt spoons and two plated mustard spoons. Silver weight 7.56 ozt (235.2 grams).

Postage: Not Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All the salts appear quite heavily tarnished and would benefit from a clean and polish. Cleaner to interiors. Otherwise the overall condition appears fairly good, all displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. All hallmarked to undersides, mostly legible with some rubbing. Assay office mark completely worn on one of the salts. Some pitting marks around the hallmarks on two of the salts. The glass liners appear to be a good fit but are likely not original. Some edge nibbles and slightly larger rim chips to a couple of the liners. Spoons are all tarnished.
