Lot Description
A mid-nineteenth Dutch silver snuff box, the rectangular form with reeded edge and punched zigzag rims, the hinged lid having an engraved cartouche of a landscape within scrolled and stippled borders, Dutch assay marks to include the lion passant, Minerva head and date letter for 1861, measuring 6.8 cm by 4 cm. Together with a smaller Dutch silver box modelled as a book, struck with single sword mark, measuring 3.7 cm by 2.5 cm, weight 54.4 grams. (2).

Condition Report
Both boxes display some tarnishing and some expected surface wear, marks and scratches. A few shallow surface dints and bumps to the snuff box and some heavier scratches. Hinges to both appear in good working order. However the lid of the snuff box rises on one side when in the closed position. Some rubbing to marks but mostly legible. Snuff box struck with a further possible maker's mark, reading A D & ? The book box also with a further mark, G over 100?
