Lot Description
A late Victorian silver vesta case, of oblong rounded form with engraved foliate scrolls surrounding a vacant cartouche, hallmarked Rolason Brothers, Birmingham 1897, width measures 3.2 cm. Together with an early twentieth century silver mounted table matchbox holder, the rectangular sleeve engraved with ribbon, garlands and twin opposed vacant cartouches, leading to a circular stepped filled base, hallmarked Joseph Gloster Ltd., Birmingham 1920 and a modern silver combination vesta and stamp case, realistically modelled as a book, of dual hinged form with two compartments and striker to the edge. Gross weighable silver 2 ozt (64.8 grams). (3).

Condition Report
In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The hinged lid to the vesta case appears loose with some sideways movement to the hinge and some minor bumps and dents to the body. The matchbox holder has a filled base, the sleeve compartment appears slightly squashed with the remnants of a matchbox which appear stuck inside. The stamp compartment cover does not shut fully flush, the hinge appears to catch when opened. Remnants of polish visible on all pieces. Majority of hallmarks clear and legible.
