Lot 209

Lot Description

A pair of late Victorian silver mounted candlesticks, the square bases with beaded border rising to a fluted column with removable beaded nozzles. Hallmarked Charles Boyton (II), London 1895. Maximum height measuring 5 1/8 inches (13.2 cm).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Both bases are filled. One nozzle is jammed in the socket, the other is removable with full hallmarks. Both have remnants of wax and dirt residue visible, would benefit from a clean and polish. Heavy tarnishing to the fluted decoration and around edges/corners. The edge of one socket is slightly dented. The material covering the bases is worn and starting to come away. Maker's mark partly obscured or overstruck but legible, other hallmarks clear.
