Lot Description

A William IV silver caddy spoon, modelled in the form of a shovel with ebonised wood handle, hallmarked Unite & Hilliard (George Unite & James Hilliard), Birmingham 1831, length measures 5 2/8 inches (13.2 cm). Together with George IV silver caddy spoon, of King's pattern with crested terminal, leading to a fluted shell bowl, assumed London 1820, an early Victorian silver sauce ladle with initialled terminal, a pair of late Victorian silver sugar nips with shell terminals and a small silver compact with interior mirror. Gross weighable silver 2 ozt (63.3 grams). (5).

In overall fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The bowl of the William IV caddy spoon appears to tilt and twist slightly in the join with the handle. Maker's maker on the George IV is partly obscured and indistinct, no town mark present assumed London. The sauce ladle is engraved with the initials 'JJ', the bowl has heavier tarnish marks and spots to the interior and back. The silver compact has a mirror to the interior of the hinged lid with a silver-gilt base compartment and some red paint/wax marks to the back of the case and suspension ring. Remnants of polish visible. Majority of hallmarks clear and legible.
