Lot Description

A similarly matched set of four late Victorian silver cup holders, each of circular form with embossed floral, foliate and bird motifs beneath an everted wavy crimped rim, with further crimped rim to the base. Two hallmarked London 1897, one hallmarked London 1878, date letter worn on the fourth, possibly also 1897, maker's marks worn and obscured. Height measuring 2 3/8 inches (6.3 cm), gross weight 9.4 ozt (292.8 grams).

In overall good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Construction seams visible. The 1878 example is further marked 'A. Barbett & Sons Manufacturers 63 & 64 Piccadilly ?'. Maker's marks worn and indistinct, other hallmarks rubbed and just about legible.
