Total lot weight: No

In very poor condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. There is significant damage throughout including a noticeable dent to one side, multiple black solder repairs (visible to the interior and exterior), creases, splits and holes. Damage has caused loss of definition to the decoration and distortion to the motto above the crest in the cartouche. Crude solder repairs visible beneath the base too. One of the inscriptions reads 'Presented to Daniel Castello the Great Grandson of Hananel de Castro by his Great Aunt Ellen Cohen February 1893'. The other opposing inscription reads 'A Testimonial of Esteem & Regard from M. D. Lindo to his Friend H. De Castro. Esq. As a lasting remembrance of their long and intimate friendship which commenced in early life and continued undisturbed to the close of a partnership o the 31 Dec 1840'. The interior of the jug has dirt residue, visible repairs and a very dull gilded appearance. Hallmarks clear and legible, no maker's mark visible.
