Lot Description

A Victorian silver cream jug, the squat bellied form with moulded rim, scroll handle and gilded interior, bearing the engraved royal cypher for Queen Victoria to one side and a monogram to the other, with inscription to base 'Formerly the Property of H.M. Queen Victoria'. Hallmarked Robert Garrard II, London 1855. Maximum length including handle measuring 6 1/4 inches (16 cm), weight 7.47 ozt (232.3 grams).

Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some tarnishing and general expected surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. Slight dint to one side of the cypher and base of handle. Some wear and fading to gilding, especially on the spout. The underside of the jug with heavier scratches and contact marks. Hallmarks are clear and legible, maker's mark a little distorted. Also with impressed maker's name and address.
