Lot Description

A set of four late Victorian silver open salts, each of plain circular form and raised upon three ball feet, hallmarked Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co (William Gibson & John Lawrence Langman), Sheffield 1897, and three similarly matched late Victorian silver salt spoons with ball terminals, hallmarked Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1897. Together with three late Victorian and later silver mustard pots, each of oval form with blue glass liners, hallmarked London 1894, Birmingham 1898 and 1913, three late Victorian and later silver open salts, of varying shape and design, one with personal inscription, etc. Gross weight exclusive of liners 12.7 ozt (396.2 grams).

In overall fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some minor holes to the ball feet on the set of four open salts. The hinges are slightly loose on the mustard pots with some sideways movement, minor chips and nibbles to the blue glass liners. The open salt with the personal inscription reads 'Ann Reese Cup Winner 1955'. Majority of hallmarks clear and legible.
