Lot Description

A George III silver teapot, of circular form with fluted and lobed decoration beneath a gadrooned rim border, leading to a curved handle with embossed floral and foliate motifs and ivory insulators, the slightly domed hinged lid with florally embossed finial, the whole raised upon four shell and scroll mounted claw feet. Hallmarked London 1819, maker's mark obscured. Height measuring 5 7/8 inches (15 cm), weight 23.5 ozt (730.8 grams).

In overall good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The hinged lid does not sit flush unless pushed down. The tip of the spout is slightly creased and dented. Noticeable bumps to the body. Maker's mark is worn and obscured, other hallmarks rubbed but still legible, partial hallmarks clear.
