Lot Description

An early Victorian silver salver, of circular form with scalloped shell border, the centre with flat chased floral, scroll and fruiting foliate motifs surrounding an engraved central crest and motto, the whole raised upon three scroll feet. Hallmarked London 1839, probably Joseph Hodgson. Diameter measures 8 7/8 inches (22.7 cm), weight 16.1 ozt (501.3 grams).

In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The engraved crest and motto are rubbed and worn. The flat chased decorations has caused noticeable impressions beneath the salver, with remnants of a sticker also. Hallmarks clear and legible.
