Lot Description
A mid Victorian 18ct gold reverse-carved intaglio pendant. The oval rock crystal, reverse-carved and painted to depict a heron at the water's edge, with textured bullrush and lily pad surround and locket reverse, suspended from a later fancy-link chain. Pendant may be worn as a brooch. Length of pendant (excluding later surmount) 4.6cms. Length of chain 45cms. Total weight 41.7gms.

<li>Overall condition good. Some surface scratches and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Surmount connecting hinged loop to chain is a later addition/replacement with French assay marks.
<li>Chain has later lobster and spring ring clasps. Chain electronically tests as approximately 18ct gold.
<li>Pendant has brooch fittings, clasp is hinged. Pin is base metal, possible later replacement.
<li>Reverse-carved intaglio with minor paint loss, mostly to the vegetation.
<li>Reverse of pendant stamped 18.
