Full Lot Description
A George III silver sauce tureen and cover, of boat shape with applied reeded rim and twin loop handles, with an engraved armorial to one side and monogram with crest above to the other, the removable cover with urn finial and matching crest, the whole raised on an oval pedestal foot with repeated reed border, hallmarked Henry Chawner, London 1793, length including handles 8" (20.2cm); together with a later silver sauce ladle, hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., Sheffield 1937. Total silver weight 13.59 ozt (422.7 grams).

<li>Appears in fairly good overall condition.
<li>Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
<li>Some visible seam lines and minor surface nicks.
<li>Surface wear and rubbing to the engraved armorials and crests, causing slight loss of detail to some areas.
<li>Removable lid has a cut-out for the ladle. It is a fairly good fit overall. With some heavier wear around the edge and slightly more of a gap at the upturned ends when in position.
<li>Residues of sticky labels to the underside of the foot.
<li>Hallmarks located to underside of foot, these still crisp and clear.
<li>Further hallmarked to rim of lid. Date letter partly worn and maker's mark also a little rubbed.
<li>Ladle with many heavier contact marks, scratches and nicks to the bowl. Hallmarks clear and legible.
