Full Lot Description

A mid-20th century silver mounted presentation box, of rectangular form, the sides curving in to a footed base and detailed with coiled snake around a staff, and cross emblems, the slightly domed hinged lid with coat-of-arms finial with motto 'Heal Teach Learn', and opening to a wood lined interior and applied presentation panel engraved 'The United Birmingham Hospitals to B. J. Rose, B. Sc., Ch. M., F. R. C. S., (Eng. & Edin.) from his Consultant Colleagues in recognition of his services from 1919 to 1953.' Hallmarked Stanley G Morris, Birmingham 1955. Maximum length 7.5" (19cm).

  • Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing.
  • With some minor surface nicks/dints, especially around edges and corners where there is some heavier wear.
  • Hinged lid appears in good working order.
  • There is some damage and losses to the enamel on the finial.
  • The wood lined interior is a little split in places, especially to the reverse of the lid.
  • Footed base is coming away a little bit at the corners; and the base is lifting slightly at one corner causing a slight wobble.
  • Hallmarks located to base and these are clear and legible.
