Lot Description

A 19th century gold foil back topaz, garnet and split pearl fringe necklace, with seed pearl spacer back-chain. 

Clasp stamped 15ct. 
Length 39.6cms. 20gms.

Surface scratches and minor marks.
Varied discolouration.
Back-chain possible replacement. 
Electronically tests to reverse of topaz mount as approximately 20ct gold, possibl interference from gilt finish.
Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. 
Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible.
Seed pearls untested for natural origin.
Seed pearls appear well matched, good lusctre. 
Split pearls appear fairly well matched, some discolouration.
Garnets appear a fairly well matched bright slightly orangey red and red.
Not all yellowish gems have been tested, not all may be topaz.
Topaz are in foil back settings and appear light yellow through medium yellow and light yellowish and orangey brown hues. 
Minor to moderate abrasions, one chipped.
Length of fringe 2.1cms.
