Lot 386

Lot Description

A late Victorian silver snuff box, the hinged oblong form with scalloped outline and scroll engraved decoration surrounding a central cartouche with monogram above the date '24 June 1916'. Hallmarked Joseph Gloster Ltd., Birmingham 1900. Width measures 2 6/8 inches (7 cm), weight 2.9 ozt (90.6 grams).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

In poor to fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor loss of definition to the engraved decoration, more so to the reverse. The case does not shut fully flush due to residue and dirt in the hinge, also heavily tarnished and dirty to the interior and inner rims, would benefit from a clean and polish. Monogram possibly HL?. Hallmarks clear and legible.
