Lot Description
A early to mid-nineteenth century silver-gilt vinaigrette, of oblong engine-turned form with initialled cartouche, reeded edges and applied foliate border, opening to reveal a silver-gilt interior with scroll pierced grille. Hallmarked Birmingham, probably 1838, maker's mark TS. Width measures 2.8 cm, weight 13 grams.

Condition Report
In overall good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The hinged lid and grille shut fully flush. The vinaigrette has significant areas of verdigris to the interior edges, hinges and grille, some visible to the exterior. It is engraved 'J.S?' to the cartouche. Removable sponge present. Hallmarks slightly rubbed but still legible, maker's mark partly obscured.
